PACER Docket Alerts available for free from CourtListener

On August 8th, CourtListener, a core project of the Free Law Project, announced the availability of PACER Docket Alerts.  Once set up, a docket alert will send you an email whenever there is a new filing in the case.  The database is by no means user friendly.  It took me a while to figure out that I first had to register for an account before I would be able to set up an alert.  But the service is free and pulls directly from PACER websites using their RSS feeds.  Another source for the filings include contributions from RECAP, an extension for Firefox or Chrome that will donate the documents you purchase on PACER to the public collection in Free Law.  Read more about this new service here.
