CRIV/LexisNexis® Semiannual Update

The CRIV Semiannual Call with LexisNexis® Legal & Professional took place on June 25, 2025.

This update includes news and product enhancements released between December 2024 and June 2025.

Products & Services Updates

Lexis+ AI™ (US)

Multiple upgrades to Lexis+ AI subscribers were rolled out over the past six months, starting with the launch of Protégé, our personalized AI assistant that reduces repetitive tasks, tackles complex analyses, and delivers exceptional work for legal and business professionals. With the Protégé launch in subsequent months, key capabilities of Lexis+ AI have been enhanced and expanded to include enhanced legal drafting, support to connect to Document Management Systems (DMS), personalized follow-up prompts and recommendation.

Additionally, within Lexis+ AI you’ll now have:

  • Access to AI generated summaries of headnotes (coming soon to law schools), federal and state administrative code, administrative decisions, and legal new articles from Law360 and Mealey’s, and case briefs in the IRAC format within the documents themselves
  • The ability to Ask Protégé from your natural language or Boolean search results within the Legal Research Experience.
  • Access to the new Lexis+AI mobile app.
  • In online research, Lexis introduced Shepard’s enhancements were rolled out to boost the performance and reduce the time for users to review a Shepard’s report, add access to “Pending & Adopted” Regulatory Alerts, and introduce the new short Lexis (LX) citation format with coverage for all U.S. jurisdictions for greater efficiency when drafting work product including citation references.

Lexis® Create+

  • Create+’s drafting capabilities were enhanced, enabling users through Protégé to directly edit their open document utilizing the AI assistant The Create+ landing page was refreshed to simplify access to Proofreading, Document tools, and Citation tools. The Proofreading services were updated to improve their processing time and accuracy, leading to 60 percent faster document review. Create+ also added support for the North Carolina citation style guide, expanding coverage for citation formatting to include 11 state style guides and support for Bluebook formatting (21st edition).
  • Search Analytics for Create+ was made available to administrators to better understand user engagement and enable analysis of trending searches to inform knowledge management and address information gaps within the organization.
  • Microsoft Copilot & Teams integration was previewed at Microsoft Build 2025 with Protégé integration showcased, offering subscribers access to LexisNexis’s AI powered research, analysis, drafting, and summarization capabilities within the Microsoft ecosystem.
  • Lexis Create+ Global was launched to enable support for legal drafting in regions around the globe (outside of the U.S. and specific regional adaptations). The shared technical platform enables customers working around the globe to efficiently implement and support a seamless experience for end users working across jurisdictions.

CourtLink® & Lexis® Snapshot

  • CourtLink released updated Strategic Profiles to all subscribers with a modernized interface and a new search system that enables users to develop report profiles across multiple court systems at once, engage with interactive charts and graphics which summarize the analysis, and benefit from the improved matching of entities harmonized with Lexis Context and across the LexisNexis platform.

Lexis Public Records:

  • The U.S. Public Records collection has grown to 109B+ records to benefit subscribers with increased coverage.  LexisNexis Public Records won ALM’s “Best of NLJ” 2025 category for best Online Public Records Research provider. 
  • For the SmartLinx Comprehensive Person Report, age was added as a field to make it easier to determine the age of the subject of the search, in addition to the current month and year of birth within the report.

Lex Machina®

  • Introduced Protégé in Lex Machina, making legal intelligence more accessible and actionable for all users. This release simplifies access to Lex Machina’s comprehensive actionable analytics. With Protégé in Lex Machina, users of all experience levels can begin with a natural language prompt or question and Protégé™ will quickly retrieve relevant analytics to kickstart legal and business workflows.
  • Released the 2025 Patent Litigation Report for public review: Patent Litigation Report

CaseMap+®

  • CaseMap+ released new enhanced capabilities to subscribers, including Bulk ZIP Downloads, Exhibit Linking, and the ability to Search Within Documents for finding relevant documents for your current case matter—streamlining workflows in CaseMap and TextMap.
  • CaseMap+ AI was updated to now provide transcript summarization and topic navigation across deposition content.

Nexis Newsdesk

  • Streamlined monitoring for subscribers with new Email Ingestion capability, enabling customers to distribute insights from their email to stakeholders in their organization as a part of broader current awareness updates & topical newsletters

Law School Updates

Lexis+ AI: Lexis+ AI with Protégé launched to faculty first in January 2025. Visit the Lexis+ AI Faculty Resources page for videos, pdfs, and more. Over 275 faculty members were certified in Lexis+ AI during the spring semester. Prompting Certification to Faculty will be offered this fall.
