AALL now has an Antitrust Compliance Policy, which the organization encourages its members to read. The Antitrust Policy recognizes the changing landscape of antitrust enforcement in the United States in the context of professional association activities. The policy is inclusive and applies to “comments at any AALL meetings and on any AALL platform including webinars, Conference programs, blog posts, articles in AALL publications, discussion posts, etc.” The Policy lists types of prohibited discussions and lists additional “areas of antitrust concern for professional associations.”
AALL held two online trainings (October 23, 2023 and February 6, 2024, neither training was was recorded) that focused on the new policy. Those online trainings were led by Paula Goedert, a partner at Barnes & Thornburg LLP, AALL’s antitrust counsel. AALL hopes to offer additional trainings to share as much information as possible about the new policy.
