CRIV CONNECTION

On June 20, the semiannual meeting between CRIV and Wolters-Kluwer was conducted over Zoom. Vani Ungapen, Michelle Hook-Dewey, Jeffrey Brandimarte, and Jane Bahnson attended. Here are the highlights:

• Update or description on WK AI-enhanced tools/platforms

Wolters-Kluwer is taking a cautious approach to adding generative AI products to its platform. Right now, it is trying to discern what customers want and need in terms of AI functionality. It is likely that any initial rollout will be within the Tax and Securities products and will involve the ability to summarize search results. AI products will evolve based on search terms, context, and customer feedback. WK is focusing on customer needs and will not jump into new AI products they are not sure will meet needs or are not comfortable with. That said, it is likely some AI functionality will be introduced at the AALL Annual Meeting next month, although the precise nature of this functionality was not disclosed at this time.

• Is WK going to build up or expand its guidebooks (expanatory/analytical sources) on their VitalLaw tax platform, so as to make them more equivalent to other tax platform products?

There is no news on guidebook updates at this time, but WK will update this information as new products become available.

• Is there any timetable to refresh the VitalLaw platform, which is not very modern looking compared to other resources?

A refresh of the platform is underway, and WK would like user feedback. Please contact WK if you would like to contribute your opinions on platform revisions. There are numerous small updates being incorporated, including quicker access to primary source content, curated ESG materials, and the addition of an enhanced access to agency rules through the dashboard.

• AALL Programs, Activities, or Business of Interest to Wolters Kluwer

Wolters Kluwer will be running a panel program at AALL to discuss the incorporation of AI in WK products and other enhancements. Jeff encouraged anyone going to AALL 2024 to visit the WK booth and to attend the discussion panel and participate in focus groups. There will be some AI enhancements announced at the Annual Meeting, but specifics about what these are and what products will be available was not announced at this time.

Vani reported that registration for the AALL Annual Meeting has been robust with registration outpacing the numbers in past years.

• Other items of interest.

Wolters Kluwer is expanding its Customer Success Managers to reach more of its customer base in order to ensure WK products are providing what different customers need, similar to vendor reps from other companies. Not all accounts will have designated Customer Success Managers, but those that do will be contacted by their assigned representative.
